San Miguel de Allende’s essential gay hideaway.
A guesthouse for men.
For four years, La Joya Azul has brought San Miguel’s queer community together through monthly LGBTQ+ T-Dance socials, New Year parties and art openings. The house has become a meeting place for neighbors, friends and visitors. That same spirit shapes its welcome to overnight guests. From March 2027, overnight stays will be exclusively for men.
The house is yours.
Four individually named rooms and a separate casita. Twelve guests, room to yourself and company when you want it.
Less to wear.
Less to think about.
Our pool area is clothing optional. Swimwear is always welcome; being comfortable is what matters.
Thank you for hosting our first ever retreat! Couldn’t be happier with this place. Rooms and decor are gorgeous and fun, beds are very comfortable.
Can’t wait to come back!
– Brendan
What a wonderful property you’ve created here. In hospitality, making the guest feel at home is the hardest thing and you’ve accomplished that for us.
Thank you again,
– Daniel & Tim
This has been my favourite experience at a guesthouse throughout all my travels. The genuine warm welcomes, recommendations and laughs shared were among my favourite things.
Hasta luego amigos!
– Stephen
Soy como soy.
“I am as I am.”
The house motto is a statement of self-acceptance and an invitation. There’s no particular way to look, dress or be here. Come as you are, settle in and make yourself at home.
Art is part of the address.
San Miguel has a deeply artistic streak. Its art schools drew foreign artists and returning servicemen after the Second World War; beatniks and hippies followed, adding to the city’s bohemian character. Inside La Joya Azul, gay art by local gay artists brings that tradition into the house.
